It's really character driven, and for pretty much the first half of the series, it's really just a bunch of non-connected stories with a sort of vague overall story. The second half is a bit more story driven.

Im currently in the middle of watching Naruto, Blast of Tempest and Shin Sekai Yori (from the new world) all have very different themes about them

Waiting on Accel world season 2 to air, season 1 was awesome

Basically the first half of the show is about them being trapped in the game Sword Art Online where you can only leave the game if someone beats it. They focus on the main character's interaction with various people who are coping with living in the game. I'm not mentioning the second half since it's kind of a spoiler
